If you have some extra RAM and an active file system, you can speed up file system activity by increasing this setting beyond the default which is only 512 KB.

This option allows you to change the maximum number of bytes that can be locked for I/O (Input/Output) operations.

It has been reported that some IDE-CD Recorders will *FAIL* if you change this value to anything else than Default. If you have any problems after using this just change the value back to Default.

Look for the following registry key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurren tControlSetControlSession ManagerMemory Management

Look for the following value on the right…

IoPageLockLimit

If its not there then right click and select NEW-Dword Value and name it IoPageLockLimit then see below.

Following values are best for the noted available RAM. Just right click on the key name and select modify, then add the below value for your system ram to the value data area.

32MB+ set the value to 1000 (4096 kb) base is hexidecimal.
64MB+ 2000 (8192 kb) base is hexidecimal.
128MB+ 4000 (16384 kb) base is hexidecimal.
160MB+ 8000 (32768 kb) base is hexidecimal.
256MB+ (max value allowed) 10000 (65536 kb) base is hexidecimal.

Then just reboot to get the setting to apply.
