Nottingham Forest Football Club is an English Association Football club based in West Bridgford, Nottingham, that plays in the Football League Championship. The club was founded in 1865 and thus became a founder member of the Football Alliance in 1889.

Their most successful period came under the management of Brian Clough, between 1975 and 1993, during which time they won the English First Division, two consecutive European Cups and four League Cups. They played in the first season of the newly formed Premier League in 1992 and have subsequently suffered a number of promotions and relegations between the top three divisions of English football.

Forest have been based at the City Ground since 1898 and its current capacity is 30,602. The ground was used as a venue for games during Euro 96 and hosted the FA Women's Cup final in 2007, 2008 and 2010.

The club is often referred to simply as Forest the name the club carries on their crest. Forest fans have a deep dislike of their club being referred to as Notts Forest. This is because Notts is the abbreviation of Nottinghamshire, hence Notts County, and not of Nottingham itself. The team are also called the Reds, due to the colour of their strip.



Early years (1865–1975)

Forest was founded in 1865 by a group of Shinty players,[3] as Nottingham Forest Football and Bandy Club[4] shortly after their neighbours Notts County, (thought to be the world's oldest surviving professional association football club), in 1862. They joined the Football Alliance in 1888, and won the competition in 1892.[5] They were then allowed entry to The Football League. In 1890, Forest played in the first ever match to use goal nets.[6]

Forest claimed their first major honour when they won the 1898 FA Cup, beating Derby County 3–1 at Crystal Palace.[7] However, for much of the first half of the 20th century the club spent life in the Second Division (and had to seek re-election in 1914 after finishing bottom). In 1949 the club were relegated to the Third Division, but bounced back two years later as champions of the Second. A brief period of glory followed at the end of the 1950s, as they regained First Division status in 1957 and won the FA Cup for a second time in 1959, despite losing Roy Dwight, uncle of pop icon Elton John, through a broken leg[8] and becoming the first team to defeat the Wembley 'hoodoo'. By this time Forest had become the biggest team in Nottingham, overtaking Notts County. But after reaching the high of runners-up spot and cup semi-finalists in 1967, Forest were relegated from the First Division in 1972.


Brian Clough Era (1975–1993)

                                                 

Forest were considered a moderate club by English league standards until the mid 1970s, when Brian Clough and his assistant Peter Taylor took the helm at the club, shortly after Clough's highly colourful, very controversial and ultimately disastrous 44 day tenure as manager of Leeds United. Clough became the most successful manager in the history of Nottingham Forest. He had won the league title with Forest's neighbours Derby County in 1972, and came to Nottingham Forest on 6 January 1975, after a 0–2 home defeat by Notts County, on Boxing Day, prompted the committee (Forest had no board of directors then) to sack the previous manager Allan Brown. Clough's first game in charge was the third round FA Cup replay against Tottenham Hotspur, a 1–0 victory thanks to a goal by Scottish centre-forward Neil Martin.

Nottingham Forest won promotion to the top division at the end of the 1976–77 season after finishing third in the Second Division, but no-one could have predicted how successful Clough's team would be over the next three seasons. Nottingham Forest became one of the few teams (and the most recent team to date) to win the English First Division Championship a year after winning promotion from the English Second Division (1977–78 season).[9] In 1978–79, Forest went on to win the European Cup by beating Malmö 1–0 in Munich's Olympiastadion and retained the trophy in 1979–80, beating Hamburg 1–0 in Madrid, at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, thanks to an outstanding performance by goalkeeper Peter Shilton. They also won the European Super Cup and two League Cups. Beside Shilton, key players of that era included right-back Viv Anderson (the first black player to play for the England national team), midfielder Martin O'Neill, striker Trevor Francis and a trio of Scottish internationals: winger John Robertson, midfielder Archie Gemmill and defender Kenny Burns. The club reached the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in 1983–84 but were knocked out by Anderlecht in controversial circumstances. It later emerged that in the second leg, the Belgian club had bribed the referee but the referee in question had since died in a car accident and was hence not able to be held accountable.[10]

Nottingham Forest's next significant trophy came in 1989 when they beat Luton Town 3–1 in the League Cup final. For most of the season they had been hopeful of completing a unique domestic treble, but were beaten into third place in the League by Arsenal and Liverpool and lost to Liverpool in the replay of the FA Cup semi-final, originally held at Hillsborough, where 96 Liverpool fans were crushed to death on terracing, the match was abandoned after 6 minutes. When football resumed they captured the Full Members Cup with a 4–3 victory over Everton. Clough's side retained the League Cup in 1990 when they beat Oldham Athletic 1–0. There was chance for more success in 1991 when Forest reached their only FA Cup final under Brian Clough and went ahead after scoring an early goal (Stuart Pearce free kick) against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley, but ended up losing 2–1 in extra time after an own goal by Des Walker.

Forest beat Southampton 3–2 in the Full Members Cup final in 1992, but then lost to Manchester United in the League Cup in the same season, both finals being played by a Forest team much weakened by injuries.

Brian Clough's 18-year reign as manager ended in May 1993 when Forest were relegated from the inaugural Premier League after 16 illustrious years of top flight football which had seen a league title, two European Cups and four League Cups.


Local rivals and derbies

Whilst Notts County is the closest professional football club geographically, Forest have remained at least one division higher since the 1994–95 season and the club's fiercest rivalry is with Derby County.[54] The two clubs contest the East Midlands derby, a fixture which has taken on even greater significance since the inception of the Brian Clough Trophy in 2007.

Leicester City are Forest's other minor East Midlands rival due to the close proximity of the two cities. Pre-Clough era, Leicester were largely considered Forest's main rivals. This may still be the case for the Forest fans of Melton Mowbray, Loughborough and yesteryear. A Football League Cup tie in September 2007 took on an extra dimension after Leicester defender Clive Clarke collapsed due to heart failure. After the match was abandoned, Leicester demonstrated sportsmanship in the replay and allowed Forest keeper Paul Smith to score at the beginning of the match.[55] This was in acknowledgement that Forest were leading 1–0 when the original tie was abandoned. The act was met with applause from both sets of fans and praised by the worldwide press.[56] Nottingham Forest went on to lose the game 3–2.

Dovedena su neka pojacanja iz Premijer Lige , najzvucnije ime je svakako Dani Higinbotam. Trenutno leze na 22. mestu. 19. pozicija , tj. sigurna zona je 5 bodova daleko ( Milvol ima i mec vise ) .


Iskren da budem poprilicno sam iznenadjen da niko nije otvorio temu ovom velikom klubu do sada.

Vlasnik Notingem Foresta nađen mrtav

Prvi čovek engleskog drugoligaša Najdžel Dauti (54) pronađen je mrtav u svojoj kućnoj teretani.



"Sa ogromnim žaljenjem saopštavamo da je vlasnik Notingem Foresta preminuo. Telo mu je nađeno u subotu ujutru u privatnoj teretani", piše u saopštenju njegovog kluba.

"Klub poziva sve da vode računa o privatnosti njegove porodice. Neće biti novih komentara o ovome", zaključeno je.

Dauti je jesenas bio nadomak odlaska iz kluba, kada je javno ponudio svoju ostavku posle odlaska trenera Stiva Meklarena.

Notingem Forest nalazi se na pretposlednjem mestu engleskom Čempionšipa (druge lige).

Derby Preview

Nottingham Forest will look to put their recent struggles behind them when they meet arch rivals Derby at Pride Park on Sunday (kick-off 12.15pm).

The Reds have lost their last three league games - their latest defeat was a 2-0 home reverse at the hands of Burnley on Tuesday - and are second from bottom in the Championship table, five points adrift of safety.

But they will make the trip down the A52 safe in the knowledge that victory over The Rams could provide the kick-start their season so badly needs.

Derby's five-match unbeaten run in the Championship came to an end in midweek with a 3-2 defeat at Barnsley but Nigel Clough's men are just four points off a play-off spot.

Steve Cotterill's defensive resources have been boosted ahead of the short trip to Derby.

Not only is skipper Luke Chambers available again after serving a three-match ban but he can also call upon new loan signings Danny Higginbotham and Scott Wootton.

Ex-Derby man Higginbotham and Wootton checked-in this week from Stoke and Manchester United respectively and will spend the remainder of the season with The Reds.

Brendan Moloney is a doubt with a thigh injury, while Greg Cunningham (hamstring) and Chris Cohen (knee) remain unavailable.

Former Reds striker Nathan Tyson is in line to make only his third start of the season for Derby.

He hit the comeback trail as a substitute against Barnsley in midweek after a spell on the sidelines nursing a groin problem.

And after impressing manager Nigel Clough with his display at Oakwell, he may have done enough to force his way into the starting XI.

But Derby's eight-goal top scorer Theo Robinson remains a doubt for the game after missing their last two matches with a calf injury.

John Middleton made way at The City Ground for a goalkeeper who would become a Forest legend … and moved to Derby to replace a man who was held in similar esteem by Rams fans.

 Middleton launched his career as a Forest apprentice in the early 1970s and in 1977 helped The Reds gain promotion to the old First Division and win the Anglo-Scottish Cup.

But within months he was on the move, joining Derby after Brian Clough had swooped to take Peter Shilton to Trentside.

Middleton, who made more than 100 appearances for Forest, succeeded Colin Boulton as Derby's No.1. and made 73 league appearances for them before injury forced him to call time on his career.

Archie Gemmill moved from Derby to Forest as part of the deal that took Middleton to The Baseball Ground. John O'Hare, John Robertson, John McGovern, Kenny Burns, Colin Todd, Gary Charles, Nathan Tyson, Kris Commons, Darren Wassall, Gary Mills, Steve Sutton and Darryl Powell are among the other players to have served both clubs.

Forest had an afternoon to forget when they met Derby at The City Ground in September - even though it could not have started better.

Derby were reduced to ten men after just a minute of play when goalkeeper Frank Fielding flattened Ishmael Miller and Andy Reid struck home the resultant penalty.

It was the worst possible start for The Rams but they clawed their way level in the 29th minute when Jamie Ward slalomed along the by line and scored from an acute angle at a time when Chris Cohen was lying injured in the Derby half.

Cohen was stretchered off with a knee ligament injury that has kept him on the sidelines since.

Matt Derbyshire just failed to make contract with a Robbie Findley cross in front of goal and Joel Lynch headed wide from a Lewis McGugan corner as Forest strived to regain the lead.

But their day of woe was complete in the 72nd minute when young Jeff Hendrick fired into the corner of the net after The Reds had failed to clear a corner.

Luke Chambers fired an injury-time chance over the Derby bar but that was the last act of a bitterly disappointing afternoon.

Fudbalski klub Notingem Forest ove nedelje je kupila porodica Al-Hasavi sa Bliskog Istoka.
 
Već sledećeg dana, bogate nove gazde otpustile su menadžera Stiva Koterila i sada žele po svaku cenu da kupe poznato ime kako bi se u roku od dve godine vratili u Premijer ligu.
 
S tim u vezi, britanski mediji objavili su četiri imena koja su u najužem izboru za budućeg stratega "šumara" - Glen Hodl, Mik Mekarti, Daren Ferguson ili Roj Kin.

Glen Hodi nije trenirao ekipu vise od 5 godina, a sa ovom trojicom ne mogu da ostvare velike uspehe kakvi se najavljuju.
Ja sam citao da je Nil Vornok prva meta, sto i ne bi bilo lose za pocetak. Kada se gledaju ti, da kazemo drugorazredni trenerii, sa fudbalske strane ja bih svakako probao da dovedem Najdzela Klofa. Covek je vec nekoliko godina u Derbiju. Apsolutan je autoritet tamo. Tim-menadzer je ili kako se vec kaze, sve kontrolise oko tim sektora, a to je prava retkost u Engleskoj.

Mada pitanje je koliko bi navijaci zeleli to. Covek je jedan od poslednjih bas dobrih igraca bio za vreme ere svog caleta. I onda uzmes da treniras rivala. Ne moze batice tako.

Kol'ko će čempionšip ove sezone da bude ujdenačen. 10-tak ekipa će da se bori za PL, svi ostali za opstanak.

Da, nema niko ko odskace. Jos su usli u Cempionsip iz trece lige Shefild i Charlton. Birmingem, Blekpul, Kardif, Lids, Lester i Midlzbro trenutno deluju kao nesto bolji od ostalih. Mislim da od ,,prvoligasa'' Bolton, Blekburn i Vulverhempton, niko nece uspeti da se vrati odma. Bice jako gusto.

Sto se tice Foresta rasprodali su sve stopere. Na polusezoni Ves Morgen je presao u jebenog rivala Lester. Covek je celu karijeru proveo u Notingemu koju je poceo 2002. godine. Linch je pre neki dan otisao u jebeni Hadersfild, a Luk Cembers je otisao u Ipsvic isto pre neki dan. Znaci stopere trenutno nemaju uopste. Ustvari imaju omladinca Dzamala Laselesa koji je veliki talenat. Mozda se njemu ukaze prilika, ali opet on im je trenutno BUKVALNO jedini stoper! Nemaju ni levog beka kad smo vec kod toga. Elokobi i Higinbotam su bili na pozajmici tu i oni su se sad vratili svojim klubovima. Kohen moze tamo da odigra jako dobro, ali opet fali jedan kvalitetan igrac tu.

Na golu imaju jednog od najboljih golmana u Cempionsipu, tako da su tu mirni. Sto se veznog reda tice Endi Rid je tu fantasticno odigrao i ocekuje se da on bude promovisan u novog kapitena. Musija hoce premijerligasi, ali verujem da ostaje i on. Grining je krs igrac i ima ogromnu platu, njega bi trebali da se otarase, ali verovatno i on ostaje. Mekgugen nije imao sjajnu sezonu, pre svega zbog povreda. Mislim da ce on biti onaj stari. Tu je jos Majevski koji je igrac za klupi, ali ume da bljesne u sezoni par puta.
Tu se prica da ce probati da vrate Dzermejn Dzinasa sto bi naravno bilo fantasticno. Gediora je odigrao sjajno na pozajmici i njega ce isto verujem pokusati da vrate.

U napadu su stvarno sranje. Tu imaju 6 jebenih napadaca i svi su isti kurac, niko ne ume da da gol. Blekstok i Tagij su tu jedini dobri igraci, ali ako se sprema ozbiljna ekipa obojica su za ne vise od klupe.

Uglavnom kakvo je trenutno stanje u ekipi bice u sredini tabele. Ali svi znamo kakav je Cempionsip. Uz par dobrih igraca borili bi se za sam vrh. Videcemo bice zanimljivo.

На крају се ипак није испунила жеља навијача. Џинас се није вратио у матични клуб, али се очекује да се то догодои у јануару, или најкасније следеће лето.

Поред споменутих играча, Форест је променио готово више од пола екипе. Цела одбрана је промењена. Доведени су Хардинг, Хачинзон, Колинс, Ајала и Халфорд. Колинс је одма промовисан у капитена што је мени смешно јер Форест има и више него једног правог вођу. Енди Рид који је почео каријеру и играо доста сезона, вратио се прошле године и одиграо сјајно. Преко 15 асистенција направио. Кохен који је ту већ 5 година и који је један од најбољих играча од када је дошао. Голман Камп и наравно МекГуген који је читаву каријеру ту.
У вези су доведеи поред сада Копингера и Сајмон Жилет као и Гедиора, чији се уговор откупио. Међутим највеће појачање ту је свакако Хенри Лензбури који је откупљен од Арсенала. Већ неколико година игра сјајно по позајмицама у разним екипама Чемпионшипа. Ја верујем да најбоље од њега тек следи. У нападу је доведен Кокс који је сад у купу забио голчину. Велико појачање, стандардан репрезентативац Ирске. Он и Блексток се треутно форсирају у тандему, мада мислим да ће се формација мењати због Шарпа и да ће ту Блексток га издувати. Ко зна уствари, можда метну Шарпа на крилу да пробија из другог плана.

Тренутни биланс у лиги су победа и 2 ремија. Сутра очекујте голеаду јер гостује Чарлтон који наставља тамо где је стао у трећој лиги. Добили су Лестер, а Бирмингем је Жигић спасио од пораза у задњем тренутку. Играју на гол више, али ја ипак мислим да ће Нотингем ту победити.
