Samsung Galaxy Beam projector smartphone live from MWC 2012

We took some time to check out the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Beam pico-projector Android smartphone at the 2012 edition of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The Beam features a dual-core processor, a WVGA 4-inch touchscreen, and a 15 lumen LED based projector that shows images in nHD (640 x 360 pixel) resolution. While we expected little from the Beam, we came away very impressed by the quality of the projected images it created for us. More info: link

Huawei introduces the Ascend D quad, dubs it the World's Fastest Smartphone




Huawei has been making some moves the past little while and now they've gone ahead an announced their latest series of Ascend devices that will be coming in April to China, Australia, Europe, Asia-Pacific, North and South America, and the Middle East in Q2 2012.

The Ascend D quad series of devices comes from Huawei and carries some pretty impressive specs to go along with it. They would have to be if Huawei is going to be putting a tag line such as the World's Fastest Smartphone on it.

- Huawei's K3V2 1.2GHz Ascend D quad /1.5GHz Ascend D1 quad-core chip and power management system
- 720P high definition touchscreen (PPI 330)
- Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound and Audience earSmart™ voice technology
- 8-megapixel BSI rear-facing camera, 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera
- 1080p full HD video-capture and playback capabilities

LG Optimus 4X HD quad-core smartphone live from MWC 2012

The LG Optimus 4X HD is LG's new flagship smartphone.
It features a quad-core 1.5GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and features a 720p HD resolution IPS touchscreen that measures 4.7 inches across the diagonal.
The phone's main 8 megapixel camera can record full HD 1080p while the forward facing 1.3 megapixel camera can be use for video calls.
The 4X HD measures only 8.9mm thanks in part to a new battery technology that LG used for its 2150mAh battery.

HTC announces the HTC One series at Mobile World Congress




While Sony and Huawei have already announced their new devices at Mobile World Congress today, the main even was HTC’s press conference tonight where they finally unveiled the HTC One series of devices which includes three Android 4.0 powered phones (HTC One V, One S and One X).

All of HTC’s devices feature HTC Sense 4.0, Beats Audio integration, Watch, and 25GB of online storage through DropBox. Below are some of the highlights from each device. HTC has also equipped their new phones with new Dual Shutter Camera Module with a Video Pic feature which allow users to record HD video and take pictures simultaneously.

HTC One V – HTC’s new entry level Android 4.0 handset which features a 3.7-inch qHD display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 512 MB of RAM, 5 megapixel camera with 720p video recording,

HTC One S – HTC’s thinnest device to date, measuring in at 8mm thick. The One S is powered by a dual-core Qualcomm S4 MSM8960 processor and features a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, 1GB of RAM, 8 megapixel rear-camera with an f/2.0 lens, 1080p video recording, and a 1650 mAh battery.

HTC One X – This is the phone you’ve been waiting for! HTC One X is the very first device in HTC’s lineup to feature an NVIDIA 1.5GHz 4-plus-1 quad-core Tegra 3 processor. HTC will also be releasing a second version of the phone which features the same 1.5GHz Qualcomm S4 processor found in the One S. The handset comes with a 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD2 display, 1 GB of RAM, 8 MP rear illuminated camera with a 28-millimeter f/2.2 lens, and 32GB of internal storage.

All three HTC One phones will be available across the globe sometime in the second quarter. Details about pricing and exact launch dates will come once European and US service providers make their own announcements in the next few days and weeks. We already know that 20 service providers have already placed order with HTC for the HTC One X  (including AT&T) and the HTC One S is expected to be launched by T-Mobile USA this spring.
