In the vein of Slender, the upcoming first-person horror game Routine will be about exploring a creepy place with devastating permadeath if you fail.

Developed by four person indie outfit Lunar Software, Routine's premise of investigating the disappearance of scientists in a derelict lunar research station is very Dead Space - and let's be honest, it wasn't particularly original then - but unlike Visceral's pulse-pounding franchise, Routine opts for a more vulnerable approach.

According to Lunar Software's site, the game will be non-linear with randomised environmental hazards, AI locations and aids. There won't be any HUD, health bars, hit points or extra lives, so you'll have to run and hide from any danger as you go about collecting floppy discs in "an 80′s vision of the future."

 There won't be much combat, but there will still be some. When we asked about this, Lunar designer and artist Aaron Foster said, "There is combat in Routine, but it is really only there as a last option to potentially get you out of a sticky situation. There is also the possibility that firing the tool could also put you in a worse situation than before. Avoiding combat is really the best solution if you want to stay alive long on Routine."

He explained that your tool is called the C.A.T (Cosmonaut Assistance Tool) and it runs on batteries that get ejected if used too often. "As for what the tool actually does, that really depends on the floppy disk you have inserted into the C.A.T at that moment. All the disks have randomised elements such as how the screen on your tool handles (frame rate, colour, targeting, night vision). Then there is the light that is attached to it, and finally what I currently call the "overcharge" that has the potential to maybe stun or destroy the enemy if shot in the right area!"

"There is also a risk reward factor to it, if you shoot and miss, more enemies will be alerted to your presence, and trust me, that is not a good thing when you may only have one more shot left!"

He added that Lunar is shooting for an early 2013 release on PC and Mac, hopefully on Steam.

Slicno Slenderman-u, stize grafichki oplemenjeniji nastavak sa vishe interakcije od strane igracha, a to je horor igra Routine, koja se bazira na istrazivanju pogibije astronauta u svemirskoj bazi i sakupljanju floppy disketa pritom.

Igra ce tezhiti istrazivanju taktichkom istrazivanju prostorija i izbegavanju direktnih sukoba dokle god je to moguce. Nece biti linearna shto ce znachiti da neprijatelji nikada nece biti na istom mestu kao ni operma koju cete moci da sakupljate u toku igre.

Od oruzija ce vam biti na raspolaganju tzv. C.A.T (Cosmonaut Assistance Tool) koji ce imati razlichitu funkciju "oruzja" u zavisnosti od diskete koja se nalazi u njemu. Ali i pored toga, predlog razvojnog tima je da se direktini sukob svodi na minimum jer vas odbrambena sila moze staviti u josh goru situaciju od one u kojoj ste vec bili.

Razvojni tim "Lunar Software" broji svega chetiri chlana, shto je za svaku pohvalu ukoliko igrica opravda grafichki prikaz iste (ili chak) vece napetosti koju su igrachi vidjali kod Slenderman-a  Smile

Routine stiže na Steam



 Survival horor igra koja sadrži rijetko viđeni sustav trajne smrti stiže na Steam idućeg proljeća - objavljeno je na Steam Greenlightu

Od svog lansiranja Steam Greenlight je privukao mnogo developera koji svoje igre žele uvrstiti u ponudu najvećeg servisa za digitalnu distribuciju igara na svijetu. Naravno, to znači da se tamo može pronaći doista mnogo igara za koje inače nebismo čuli.

 

Jedna takva igra je Routine, survival horor smješten na mjesec, koji ne sadrži HUD ni obnovu zdravlja te u potpunosti ovisi o odlukama igrača, što znači da ima više završetaka. Na igri radi nezavisni razvojni tim Lunar Software. Za razliku od mnogih drugih igara ova će u kombinaciju ubaciti "permadeath" sistem, što znači da će preživljavanje doista dobiti neki novi smisao kad pričamo o video igrama.

 

Foster je u intervjuu za EDGE rekao da je oduvijek želio stvoriti ZF igru u kojoj igrači neće biti prisiljeni da "pritisnu pravu tipku u pravo vrijeme" kako bi pokrenuli međuscene. Dodaje da je uključivanje stalne smrti bio element kojim je želio staviti pritisak na igrače te ih prisiliti da ozbiljno promisle o svojim potezima.

Its March, and as our Release Date Trailer revealed a while back, it is release month!
When we last made an Update in October, we talked about how we could rush a release date of December 2016, but wanted to have a few extra months to really make sure that the game was polished and felt like something we could be proud of releasing, so we came up with a March Release Window.

That extra time has been invaluable to the project, and as things were being put into a final release state (Sound, Animations, Gameplay) we felt a great amount of joy and satisfaction in seeing everything in Routine really come to life. However, there was one thing we never felt clicked, and that was one of our paths.
Routine has always had two ways to progress through the game, each with their own unique endings, but we never quite knew how they would feel until the game content & experience was really polished up and playable as one solid, consistent, experience.



We made the call at the end of January that our second path was just not as strong as the other. If you follow us on twitter you may have noticed over these last two months that we’ve been very inactive, and the reason has been that we’ve just crunched like crazy to try and hit that March Release date. It’s looking like we just can’t do that, there are still a few things that require our attention. You have waited almost 5 years for Routine, and we want to make sure that what we give you in the end is nothing short of the best we can give you. We’re genuinely sorry to announce this small delay, but we feel like the last thing we want to do is disappoint all of the people that given us their love, support and kindness, by releasing something that didn’t feel complete.

We only get to release Routine once, and we want to make sure we do it right. We don’t expect the delay to add more than a month or two and when we next update, we promise to finally give you a clear release date with a game that we are proud of.

Once again from the bottom of our hearts, thank you all for your patience and support.
