A new series of ballistic fabric/polymer helmets is ready for full-scale production. The helmets feature high level of protection against small arms and fragments. They are lighter than similar Russian and foreign helmets with the same protection level by 0.3-0.5 kgs. The weight of the lightest helmet version is only 900 g; protected area: 11-13 sq.dm; protection level against fragments: V50=600...620 m/s; against small arms: PM pistol at 5 m.




For the Army and special-purpose units

The helmets are made of a ballistic-fabric-based (TSVM, Kevlar etc.) composite with a special film binder.
The production method enables production of helmets with any desired shape and protection level:
    - against standard fragments up to V50=540-600 m/s;
    - against bullets: Protection Level I (GOST R 50744-95 Russian standard) or Protection Level IIA (NIJ-STD-0106.01).
Weight: 0.9-1.6 kg.
The suspension system ensures shock protection up to 50 J.



For the Army, Police and special-purpose units

The outer shell is made by a unique method of deep drawing from a one-piece sheet of high-strength armor titanium or aluminium alloy. From inside the shell is reinforced by a composite (fabric/polymer) liner which stops secondary fragments and reduces behind-armor trauma. Available in several modifications which differ by the protection level and components (visor, neck-piece, headset assembly).



      

As an option the helmet can be equipped with:
      - easily removable ballistic visor with bullet-proof glass;
      - neck and shoulder piece to protect against blows;
      - headset assembly.




The upgraded version of SSh-68 helmet features the following:
       - substantially increased protective properties as compared to the basic version;
       - the same liner as the basic version;
       - compatibility with standard communication systems, sighting and vision devices, camouflage covers and gas masks;
       - two to three times lower price as compared to titanium ballistic helmets

An integrated shock-absorber protects the head and neck against trauma.
