Audiju porasla prodaja u oktobru, ipak smanjuje proizvodnju

Audi, filijala nemačkog Folksvagena (Volkswagen), zabeležio je porast prodaje u oktobru - suprotno trendu tržišta, ali je najavio da će početi sa smanjenjem proizvodnje oko Nove godine.

Prodaja Audija u svetu je u oktobru porasla za 7 odsto, na više od 82.000 automobila, navodi se u saopštenju kompanije. Glavni konkurenti Audija, BMW i Dajmler (Daimler) su u istom mesecu zabeležili pad prodaje od osam, odnosno 18 odsto.
Prodaja Audija je od početka januara do kraja oktobra porasla 3,3 odsto na skoro 845.000 automobila, kao rezultat jakog prisutva u Aziji,a naročito u Kini koja je Audijevo drugo po veličini tržište posle Nemačke. U Kini je prodaja Audija u oktobru skočila 25 odsto na 9,600 kola.
Za dobar rezultat su takođe zaslužni novi modeli Audija, A3 i A6, koji su doprineli porastu prodaje u zapadnoj Evropi, kao na primer porast od 10 odsto u Italiji i 14,5 odsto u Francuskoj.
Kompanija je potvrdila da joj je cilj da proda više od milion automobila ove godine.
"Audi je na dobrom putu ali naravno mi smo sve vise pogođeni teškim spoljnim faktorima", rekao je direktor firme Rupert Štadler, navodi se u saopštenju.
Portparol Audija rekao je agenciji AFP da će što se tiče prodaje Audi do kraja godine ostvarivati napredak ali da je "teško proceniti" kako će izgledati 2009. godina i zato je doneta odluka da se smanji proizvodnja.
Dve nemačke fabrike Ingolštat na jugu i Nekrasulm na jugozapadu su zabrinute zbog neograničenog produženja godišnje pauze, a portparol je naglasio da će detalji o tome biti poznati u narednim danima.
Matična kuća Folksvagen, koja je takođe do sada bila pošteđena krize, odlučila je da preduzme silične mere i ukinula je 500 radnih mesta srednjeg ranga u Nemačkoj.
Nemačke automobilske kuće BMW, Daimler i Porše (Porsche) su takođe najavile smanjenje proizvodnje da bi se prilagodili padu prodaje.

Audi je razvio sistem koji pomaže vozaču da optimalnom brzinom izbegne zaustavljanje na semaforu ili nepotrebno usporavanje - odobreno testiranje u realnim uslovima
„Audijev“ sistem Travolution je dobio zeleno svetlo za ispitivanje u realnim uslovima. Reč je o sistemu koji pomaže vozaču da se što ređe zaustavlja na semaforu.

Funkcioniše sasvim jednostavno – poseban modul ugrađen u semafor šalje podatke o preostaloj dužini trajanja crvenog svetla, Travolution podatke prima, upoređuj vreme sa udaljenošću semafora i vozaču govori optimalnu brzinu kojom bi trebalo da se kreće ukoliko želi da prođe bez zaustavljanja ili nepotrebnog usporavanja.

Trenutno se ispituje u nemačkom gradu Ingolstadt, gde je „Audijeva“ centrala. Na ulice je pušteno dvadeset automobila (A5 i A6 Avant), a modulima za komunikaciju je opremljeno dodatnih pedeset semafora.

„Audijevi“ inženjeri smatraju da primenom ovog sistema može značajno da se unapredi protok saobraćaja, što direktno dovodi do manje potrošnje goriva i manjeg zagađenja.

Audi developed a sports version of the 80 / 90 in 1991, based on the B3 platform called the Audi S2. This featured a 2.2 L 20-valve turbo petrol engine derived from that used in the Sport Quattro. A similar version of the engine was used in the Audi 200 20v and the Audi 100 based S4 (the 'Ur-S4'). It came as standard with quattro permanent four wheel drive, and featured a heavy-duty manual transmission, initially 5-speed, and then upgraded to a 6-speed for 1993.

The Audi S2 was initially available only as a 2-door sports coupé, but later, in 1993, a 5-door S2 Avant model was introduced, along with a limited run of 4-door S2 saloon models, of which 306 were produced. The S2 saloon and Avant are based on the B4 platform and feature a lot similarities in the rear axle support system to the later B5 A4 quattro. The B4 platform S2 Avant was also used between 1993 and 1995 as the basis for Audi's RS2 Avant super-sports estate, which was modified for Audi by Porsche.

The S2 was initially available with a 2.2 L turbocharged engine which produced 220 PS (162 kW/217 bhp), with later models producing 230 PS (169 kW/227 bhp). It will do 0-100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.8 seconds, continuing to a top speed of 246 km/h (152.9 mph). The S2 Avant reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.1 seconds, and has a top speed of 242 km/h (150.4 mph).

The Audi V8 is a large luxury saloon/sedan built by Audi AG of Germany from 1988 to 1994 as the company's range-topping model, and was the first Audi to use its namesake engine configuration.

It was replaced by the Audi A8 in 1994, though the A8 would not be sold in North America until the 1997 model year.


 History

Although the vehicle was based on VW/Audi's existing C3 platform (namely the 100/200 sedan), the V8 model featured standard quattro permanent four-wheel drive, and a 32 valve, DOHC V8 engine, with either a five-speed manual, six-speed manual, or four-speed electronically controlled automatic transmission, giving it the power and road-holding ability to match the V8 powered offerings from BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The V8 closely resembled the 100 and 200 models, although a unique grille design and bumpers, extended wheelbase, pronounced wheel arches, all red rear lights and larger 16" or 17" wheels helped distinguish it. Much attention was lavished on the vehicle's new engine, although the V8 was also significant in that it was the first production Audi to combine the quattro system with an automatic transmission.

The 3.6 L (3562 cc) powerplant was essentially two four-cylinder engines which had been mated at the crankshaft to form a V8. In this case it was the acclaimed Volkswagen Golf GTI's 1.8 L, twin cam, 16-valve inline 4-cylinder that provided the inputs. Power output was very respectable for the day, with 250 PS (184 kW/247 hp) and 340 N·m (251 ft·lbf) of torque available over a fairly wide powerband. The top speed was 250 km/h and 0-100 took 7.6 secs with the automatic.

Audi introduced a long wheelbase version in 1990 and in 1992 a 4.2 L (4172 cc) powerplant with 280 PS (206 kW/276 hp) and 400 N·m (295 ft·lbf) was introduced. Like the 3.6L model, quattro four-wheel drive came as standard. A six-speed manual gearbox replaced the 5-speed manual of the 3.6 model. The top speed was 250 km/h and 0-100 now took only 7.2 with the automatic and 6.7 with the manual transmission.

The V8 was never a huge sales success despite the obvious qualities of the car. The Audi V8 came out at about the same time as the Lexus LS400, and in many respects, the V8 was a superior product both to the Lexus, and competitors such as the S-class Mercedes, the 7-series BMW, and the Jaguar XJ-series. However, despite being a technological marvel as the only car in its class to offer four-wheel drive and a galvanised body, with its clean but understated design, most consumers thought the car resembled the lesser Audi models too much to warrant the price. Also, the V8 did not offer a particularly good ride compared to the competition.

If nothing else, the place of the V8 in the history of Audi was to make life easier for the successor, the Audi A8 in that customers were now viewing Audi as a proper manufacturer of prestigious luxury cars providing a credible alternative to the established competitors. Today, the V8 has a cult following in many countries, and many examples are in the hands of enthusiasts who appreciate the quality and performance offered by what has turned out to be a durable well-built car.

The car's base price in 1994, its final year of production, was US$58,700. Today, the V8 trades for values between $2000 - $10,000 dependent on condition of the car.

 Motorsport

Audi developed a Group A competition version of the V8 for entry into the DTM (German Touring car Championship), and began racing with it in 1990 with Schmidt Motorsport running the operation, and Hans-Joachim Stuck, Walter Röhrl and Frank Jelinski driving. Stuck won the title, and the following year, Audi added a second team to the mix, Audi Zentrum Reutlingen. SMS continued with Stuck and Jelinski, while AZR raced with Frank Biela and Hubert Haupt. Biela gave Audi another crown in 1991, but was unable to defend the title in 1992. After that season, the DTM organizers deemed the V8's crankshaft illegal, and Audi retired from the championship.
