Blair fired from Anger Management over Sheen feud

Anger Management's Selma Blair has been fired from the show after its lead actor and producer Charlie Sheen threatened to walk out today, unless she was forced to go.

The show's studio, Lionsgate Television, has officially confirmed the dismissal in a statement: “We are confirming that Selma Blair will not be returning to Anger Management and we wish her the very best.”

Sheen's infamous temper flared after he learnt that Blair had allegedly complained to executives about the actor regularly being late and having a shoddy work ethic, according to TMZ, which broke the story on Monday (US time).

Sheen reportedly reminded "everyone" on Anger Management that he was the star of the show, with the most lines, and claimed to have "fired" Blair - although there was no confirmation outside of TMZ's "sources".

Blair played Dr Kate Wales, Sheen's therapist on the program.

Sheen threatened the show's producers; calling on them to back his decision by working out an exit strategy for his co-star by the end of the day or else he would quit himself, TMZ reported.

It's understood that Sheen is set to earn up to $US200 million if he completes 100 episodes, which he's only part way through shooting.

Sheen had been TV's highest-paid actor for his role as Charlie Harper on the America's No. 1-rated comedy Two and a Half Men. But he was fired in 2011 after he lashed out in public rants at the show's creator Chuck Lorre.

The actor's firing followed a series of incidents in late 2009 and 2010 that landed him in legal trouble and in rehab for drug and alcohol abuse.

In the lead-up to his dismissal, Sheen had begun posting videos and making statements on Twitter to his fans in which he characterised his detractors as losers.

The show later hired Ashton Kutcher to replace Sheen.
