What Is Side-by-Side Parallel 3D?
To recap, a stereographic image or video actually consists of two images or videos displayed side-by-side: one image or video represents the left eye's view, and the other is the right eye. A Parallel stereographic image or video means the left view is on the left, and the right view is on the right.

Parallel viewing may be the easiest and most familiar way to experience stereo 3D. It's very similar to the way you would view those Magic Eye autostereograms you used to see everywhere. The basic principle is to align the left eye with the left image and the right eye with the right, thus your eyes are in "parallel".

Step 1. Look For The Right Download Link
Look for the link that says "3D Side-by-Side", "3D WMV HD" or "3D Parallel".
Simply play any of the side-by-side images and videos with the software you normally use for playback on your computer. No other special software or equipment is necessary. All videos and images in side-by-side parallel can be viewed in 3D using the method described above.

Step 2. How To View Parallel 3D With The Naked Eye
Recall that when an image or video is taken for each eye, the center of the image is the center of the eye's view. Therefore in order to view 3D in parallel, each eye must be looking at the center of each side of the image: left eye looking at the center of the left, and right on the center of the right.
We'll use a picture of Victoria as a guide. You can click to enlarge. Notice the two black dots beneath each picture. First, place yourself directly in the center of the stereographic image. Now move back if needed, until you feel your each of your eyes can comfortably look directly at the center of each side of the image.

Focus your vision on the center of the image. To assist you, look down towards the bottom of the picture where the two black dots are. Focus your attention at the space in between the two dots.
Now relax your focus. You can do this by picturing yourself looking at something behind the screen. Another way to do this is to daydream or let your mind wander - notice how your vision focuses outwards and farther whenever you daydream. You'll know you're doing it right when the two dots begin to move closer together in your vision. Keep bringing those two dots together until they become one. If you feel your eyes straining to do this, it means you are sitting too close so move a little farther back.
The two dots will eventually "snap together" and your eyes are locked into parallel vision mode. Look above the now single dot and you'll also see a 3D picture of Victoria.
Parallel 3D viewing has a very short learning curve so after a few tries, you'll be able to do this without the aide of any guides such as the black dots. Just remember to face directly in the center of the image and move farther back if needed.


How To View 3D Anaglyph Pictures and Videos
What Is Anaglyph 3D?
This is also known as “classic 3D” like all the cheesy 3D movies Hollywood tried in the black and white era, with a mini revival in the 80’s. They are distinct for having red and blue fringes in images and videos. It's also the easiest way to view 3D for most people

Step 1 - Get A Pair of Red/Blue Glasses
Anaglyph images and videos are viewed using red/cyan tinted glasses, also known as "red and blues". You can pick up a pair on ebay for less than a dollar, or you might just have a pair lying around at home. They are cheap and don't require doing anything special with your eyes such as you would viewing 3D with the naked eye.

Step 2 - Select Appropriate Download
Look for the link that says "3D Anaglyph" or "Anaglyph".

Step 3 - Put On Your Glasses And Look At The Image/Video
You'll see something that looks like what you see above. Notice the red and cyan (or blue) edges in the image. You know it's anaglyph when you see that. If you have your glasses on, you should notice a distinct 3D effect.



How To View Side-by-Side Parallel 3D Pictures And Videos With The Nvidia 3D Vision System

What Is The Nvidia 3D Vision System?
3D Vision is graphics chip maker Nvidia's system to view stereo 3D content on your computer including games, videos, and pictures. As of this writing, the 3D Vision System provides the best possible and most realistic 3D experience at home. It consists of:
    3D Vision Kit - a pair of active shutter 3D glasses
    a compatible Nvidia graphics card
    a 3D ready monitor or TV
    Windows PC
Most people will only need the glasses and a 3D ready monitor. The system uses the same technology as new 3D blu-ray TV combos from Panasonic and Sony, but because it is for your computer, it is more flexible (you can access downloaded content such as this site) and cheaper (3D Vision ~ $500 / new 3D TV blu-ray ~ $2000).


How To View Side-by-Side Parallel 3D Pictures And Videos With Other Setups

Do You Use Something Else To View 3D?
So you don't use 3D Vision, Red/Blue Glasses or even your naked eye and have a setup we haven't listed on this site, don't worry. It's likely all the content on this site works with your system, but we personally don't have your setup and can't provide detailed instructions on how to use your setup with our content. We can provide a basic overview of how to enjoy our content, but you'll be required to know the rest. These include Zalman Trimon monitors and Tridef-capable devices such as the Acer 3D laptop and Lenovo 3D ideapad

Step 1. Look For The Right Download Link
Look for the link that says "3D Side-by-Side", "3D WMV HD" or "3D Parallel". All 3D image and video viewing software will recognize this format. Download the video and save it to your computer. Don't forget where you saved it.

Step 2. Open the File With Your 3D Image/Video Player
The image on the left is of the Nvidia 3D Vision Player, but most 3D viewing software will be very similar and the software included with your setup will act the same way.

Step 3. Select Left Image First
Your playback software may ask you what kind of 3D image or video the file is. All our videos and images are presented in Stereo Parallel 3D, which means the image destined to be viewed by the left eye, is on the left side, and the right, on the right side. Select "left image first". If it doesn't ask you, remember to set it as "left image first", "side-by-side parallel" or similar-sounding terms.

Step 4. Enjoy
Depending on your setup, you may need to put on a pair of glasses. Put those on if necessary. Enjoy.
